A Shared Vision in Kamakura

WEARLNESS in Kamakura

WEARLNESS × Ateliers de Nîmes

During our recent trip to Kamakura, we had the pleasure of meeting Tomoyoshi, founder of WEARLNESS, a carefully curated store located in the coastal district of Inamuragasaki.

More than a retail partnership, this encounter was the meeting of two philosophies.

A shared belief that clothing should be made to last.
To age gracefully.
To accompany its owner through the years.

For many years, Tomoyoshi has built WEARLNESS around a simple yet increasingly rare idea: taking the time to do things properly.

Far from the major commercial avenues and the constant race for novelty, WEARLNESS offers a different experience—one rooted in craftsmanship, authenticity and human connection.

It is a vision that immediately resonated with us.

In a world where almost everything can be purchased in a few clicks, both WEARLNESS and Ateliers de Nîmes continue to believe in the importance of physical places, meaningful exchanges and the knowledge carried by skilled hands.

The value of a garment does not lie solely in its appearance.
It lies in the story behind its making.
And in the life it will go on to live.

In Nîmes, the historical birthplace of denim, we have always believed that a pair of jeans should evolve alongside the person who wears it.

It should fade.
Develop a unique patina.
Be repaired when necessary.
And slowly become a reflection of its owner's journey.

A garment should not simply be replaced.
It should gain character.
And value.
With time.

This is why our meeting with WEARLNESS felt so natural.

Because beyond geography, beyond language and beyond culture, we share the same appreciation for the long-term.

The time required to learn.
To create.
To weave.
To assemble.
And above all, to transmit knowledge to future generations.

Inamuragasaki may not be one of Japan's most famous destinations.
Yet, like many places that preserve their authenticity, it possesses something increasingly difficult to find: a sense of calm.

A slower rhythm.
A connection to both history and everyday life.

It is a place that reminds us why craftsmanship matters.
And why patience remains one of the most valuable ingredients in creating something meaningful.

We are proud to see Ateliers de Nîmes soon become part of this space.

A place where people take their time.
To talk.
To discover fabrics.
To understand construction.
And to experience clothing differently.

Because the finest stores are never simply places where products are sold.
They are places where stories begin.
And where memories are made.
