The thread

Feeling, marveling, the pleasure of touch also comes through beautiful materials.

Who says quality weaving, says quality thread!

We have therefore chosen to use 100% combed cotton yarns, made in spinning mills based in Turkey, Italy and France. Experts in their field, they work with exceptional cotton, harvested in plantations in the Adana region, to provide us with a high-quality raw material.
To weave our Ateliers de Nîmes canvas, we have selected very specific threads: twisted threads (which require 2 threads to form one). This technique allows us to obtain a stronger and therefore more durable canvas, but also to make significant savings in water and energy, thus producing more environmentally friendly fabrics.
Today, 99.99% of the denim produced in the world is made with single threads. Industrialists in the sector are therefore obliged to go through a phase of sizing the thread in order to make it stronger under the tension exerted by the loom. This industrial process obviously requires a lot of energy and chemical agents because once the fabric is woven, it must be desized, wasting a huge amount of water, hydrocarbons, and solvent to "clean" the glue.
For the Ateliers de Nîmes canvases, we decided to take the opposite approach to these techniques: no solvents, reduced water consumption, respect for the environment, local production supplied by European suppliers... And all this with a single aim: to offer an exceptional, sustainable and responsible canvas.

The ingredients of an exceptional pair of jeans

For each stage of manufacturing our pants, from the choice of cotton to the washing, our decisions are always motivated by the search for quality, respect for the environment and people.

A handcrafted weave

It is by using traditional Nîmes techniques that we weave the most authentic and original canvas possible.
